Haytor Vale, Quarry and Tramway (L19, L18 and K18)
We parked at the foot of Haytor and walked along the side of the road until we came to the road leading down to Haytor Vale. We had to walk down the road to the village, but it was a quiet road.
The cottages and pub made the village pretty. We followed a sign to a footpath and wandered through woodland until we came to the entrance of the iron mine.
We then retraced our steps to the top of the road, crossed over and walked across Haytor Down until we came to the granite tramway. We followed along this until we came to the quarry.
Near the quarry there was lots of heather which made the area really pretty.
We walked around the quarry and admired the waterlilies and found the old winch. There were lots of people around so we could not explore the area fully for further relics.
From the quarry we walked u to the top of Haytor. The views were spectacular in all directions.
